| "Nasha Mukht Punjab" Campaign- 15th – 19th January 2010, Amritsar |
Chronic Care Foundation, with support from Pfizer India, conducted a mass awareness and education campaign titled “Nasha Mukht Punjab” – (Punjab da josh – Punjab di Shaan) from 15th to 19th January in Amritsar. The campaign targeted the youth of Amritsar and expected to make them active promoters of health.
The campaign aimed to promote good health by educating the citizens on prevention of chronic diseases by avoiding any form of substance (tobacco, alcohol and drug) abuse and minimizing the incidence and effects of substance abuse amongst the people of Punjab.
During the 5 day campaign, 15 specially designed and scripted street plays / nukkad nataks were stagedacross the city of Amritsar to educate people about the ill effects of alcohol, tobacco, and substance abuse and the adverse impact of dependence and addiction on the society as a whole. The campaign reached around 3000 people including youth, school and college audience, women, street vendors, shopkeepers directly and several others indirectly.
