Effective interventions and improved disease management can reduce morbidity, disability and death and contribute to better health outcomes. Chronic Care Foundation launched the National Program on Prevention of Non Communicable Chronic Disease, in 2009, supported by Baxter International Foundation to address these interventions and combat the devastating impact of chronic non communicable diseases in India.

The program was initially launched as a mass awareness and educational national campaign on non communicable chronic diseases with prime focus on mass outreach in 17 states of India. The awareness and educational campaign was named the National Health Campaign with the slogan-Swasthya Log Swasthya Desh. The program was conducted in two phases:

Phase I (Planning Phase- Jan 2010 to Mar 2010): During this phase, awareness activities and areas where activities were to be implemented were charted and finalized. Collaborations and partnerships, for delivery with the field NGOs and government organizations in the selected areas, were also established.

Phase II (Implementation Phase): CCF also revisited the mode of partnership and established patnership with NGOs in 17 States of India, categorizing them into Principal Partner and Associate Partner. Resource (IEC/BCC) materials including flip charts, information booklets, interactive games & CDs and educative films were developed. The resource materials were widely used for mass awareness campaigns in these states.
