Dr
Sanjana Sikri |
Dr Sanjana Sikri completed her MBBS from “Kasturba Medical College”, Mangalore in 1994 and internship from “Nair Hospital”, Mumbai. She started her career as an Emergency Medical Officer in Vasant Lok Hospital in 1997 where she participated in Eye Camps, school checkups programme and other workshops. From 1999 to 2002, she worked as “Medical Coordinator” with AIDS Awareness Group (AAG), an HIV/AIDS project with sex workers of G.B Road funded by Delhi State AIDS Control Society. The job responsibilities included check-up and treatment of STD/STIs, Counseling, general medical care, report writing and training outreach staff. |
Since 2003 she is working as a Medical Officer with Salaam Balaak Trust (SBT), an NGO in central Delhi, operational with 5000 street and disadvantaged children through five full-care residential programmes, five contact points and 1098 child line for children in distress. |
Dr Sekris responsibilities include providing professional and medical services (medical check-ups, treatment and supervision of medication, vaccines administration, counseling and psychological support, networking with public hospitals for hospitalization cases etc.); coordination of SBT’s health programme and providing technical support (peer education, conducting training on HIV/AIDS, STD/STIs, Hepatitis, symptomatic management of STD/STIs, etc.) . She is a member of the CCF Medical Action group and gives her time to the CCF programs for education on chronic diseases. |
