| "Aap ka Swasthya Aap ke Haath" Street Theater – Creating Awareness for Prevention of Chronic Diseases |
On 5th February 2009, Thursday, Chronic Care Foundation staged a Street theatre titled ‘Aap ka Swasthya Aap ke Haath’ at the Swasth Mela organised by the NTPC, Badarpur.
The topic of the street theatre was in sync with the theme of the Health Mela “Food and Nutrition”. The Health Mela was inaugurated by Ms. Kusum Sharma, wife of the NTPC’s chairman.
The street theatre focused on early detection and prevention of Diabetes and other related diseases. The troupe beautifully enacted the importance of regular exercise, healthy eating, sanitation and hygiene for keeping the non-communicable chronic diseases at bay.
Around 150 people were present to witness the play and comprised of the members of Ladies Club of NTPC, NTPC employees, their family members and local people from the neighbouring villages who had come for a free check up at the Swasth Mela. At the end of the program the troupe displayed plank cards and distributed leaflets on healthy eating and nutrition to the audience. The program was success full in conveying the message on importance of early detection and prevention of Diabetes.
