Dr. Usha Shrivastava completed her MBBS and PhD from Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS in 1992. She Is trained in Clinical Epidemiology through INCLEN and Clinical Epidemiology Unit at the Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS and is Fellow of the Asian-Pacific Teaching Seminar on the Epidemiology and Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, at Japan, 1993. She has participated in the International Conference on “Primordial Prevention of Coronary Risk Factors organised by International Society of Preventive Cardiology in Minnesota, USA , 1996. |
Dr. Usha has been WHO National Consultant on Cardio-Vascular Disease Control, SEARO, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India (1996), where she was involved in preparation of proposal for surveillance of cardio-vascular disease and risk factors like diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, tobacco use etc. Apart from this she has been Consultant to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Diabetes (2005), Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Ltd. on Health and Wellness Policy (2005-2006) and Consultant, Preparation of “Health Workers Manual for Priority Communicable Diseases” conducted by AHEAD in collaboration with SEARO, WHO (2001-2002). |
Dr. Usha has been the organiser of many programmes, few of which are: Roundtable on “HIV/AIDS Epidemiology and Surveillance in India” in August, 1996 in collaboration with FHI/AIDSCAP, USAID, UNAIDS, NACO and AHEAD and National seminar on "Rights of Children” held in New Delhi in May, 1990. Some of the projects formulated and reports written by Dr. Usha include: Report on Development of Appropriate Prevention and Intervention Strategies for Non-Communicable Nutritional Related Disorders among Women in Post-Reproductive Period for Dept. of Science and Technology and AIIMS; Trends in Childhood Nutrition and Lifestyle Factors in India for Diabetes Foundation (India) and Cardio-Vascular Health of Young People in collaboration with University of Minnesota, USA. |
Dr. Usha has to her credit many published papers and abstracts in Journals few of which are: High prevalence of modifiable coronary risk factors in an urban population sample (abstract), Reddy KS, Pandit K, Pajnu A, Shrivastava U, Nagtilak SB, Karmarkar MG, Wasir HS.
